Normally I’m not one to write reviews, but we are baffled that we paid over $450 (body + 2” riser) for a product that did not effortlessly come together.
When we initially unboxed the product, the staples and dowels holding the body together at the corner were coming apart—no problem, we used a mallet to put it back in place. However, we kept finding the quality of engineering/manufacturing of this product did not meet expectations for nearly half a grand price point. The instruction for assembly could use a little bit of clarifying, but otherwise okay. The first large issue came up when we tried to fasten the metal L plate to the body & onto the bottom of arm/table top (photo 1,2). We were only able to use two screws in each plate as the other securing holes were not lined up for proper fastening. Next, when we tried to use the dowel’s to secure the table top to the body of the product, we were completely unable to use any (photo 3,4). As pictured, the placement on the top and body did not line up at all and we were left with half an inch-inch gap with no chance to secure the pieces together. We decided to forego the extra security to at least maintain functionality. After we attached the arm/table to the body we moved to screw in the metal plate on the back of body, but found that the pieces were not flush (photo 5,6). The metal plate sits diagonally, but thankfully we were able to utilize all 4 screws, with the exception of the bottom screws being loose.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great idea for a product and it DID assemble + function. But I simply cannot give this product more than 2 stars. I don’t think a product should have such a high price point for flawed assembly—you can’t even use all intended piece or secure parts correctly—and that is largely why I’ve chosen to rate it so low.
Over $450 is not easy to come by for the average person, and if I choose to spend this much money I want to see nearly effortless quality. One minor issue is okay, but to have more than 2 fairly large issues calls for some re-evaluation in quality control. These are not issues easily noticed without beginning assembly process either.
Purchase with caution.
